About this tool

Find and Redact searches every page for sensitive information and removes it for real. Ready-made presets find email addresses, phone numbers (including Thai mobile and landline formats), Thai national ID numbers validated with their check digit, card numbers validated with the Luhn check, IBANs and dates. You can also type your own words or a regular expression, with case-sensitive and whole-word options.

Redaction here is true redaction. By default each affected page is redrawn as an image with the boxes burned in, so the original text, fonts and images under the boxes are gone from the file — they cannot be copied, searched or recovered. Pages without matches stay as normal, selectable text. Form fields and comments that overlap a match are removed as well.

Turn on Preview only to see a list of everything that would be redacted before you commit. Detection works on real text; scanned pages need OCR first. Everything runs in your browser, which matters when the document is full of personal data.

Frequently asked questions

Is the text really removed?

Yes, in Burn in mode. Affected pages are rebuilt from an image with the boxes painted in, so the hidden text is no longer in the file. Visual only mode just draws boxes and shows a warning.

How are Thai ID numbers detected?

Any 13-digit number, with or without dashes, is checked against the official check-digit formula, so random 13-digit numbers are not flagged.

Why can I no longer select text on some pages?

Redacted pages are converted to images to guarantee removal. Pages without matches keep their text unless you choose to rasterize all pages.

Does it work on scanned documents?

Only if the PDF has a text layer. Run OCR PDF first, then redact.
