About this tool

Some PDFs open freely but block printing, copying text or editing. These limits come from an “owner password” and the file's permission flags. Remove Restrictions rewrites the file without encryption, so every reader and editor treats it as an ordinary PDF.

The tool uses qpdf in your browser, with a pdf-lib fallback. If the PDF also needs a password just to open it, you must enter that password first — this tool does not crack or guess passwords.

Only remove restrictions from documents you own or have the right to use. The content itself is not changed.

Can it remove an open password I don't know?

No. If a password is required to open the file, you need to know it. With the password, Decrypt PDF and this tool both work.

Is this legal?

Removing restrictions from your own files is fine. Respect copyright and the terms under which you received the document.

Will the content change?

No. Pages, text, images and forms stay identical; only the encryption and permission flags are removed.
