Linearize PDF
Turn on Fast Web View so the first page of a PDF appears instantly in browsers, before the rest downloads.
About this tool
A normal PDF keeps its index at the end of the file, so a web browser must download everything before it can show page one. Linearization — also called Fast Web View or web optimisation — reorders the file so the first page and the index come first, and servers can send the rest on demand.
Mofumi uses qpdf, the open-source PDF toolkit, compiled to WebAssembly. Content is not changed in any way: the same pages, text, links and forms, just arranged for streaming.
Linearize as the last step after any other edits, because most editing tools rewrite the file and undo the optimisation.

Frequently asked questions
Does linearization make the file smaller?
Not usually — it can even add a few kilobytes. Run Compress PDF first if you also need a smaller file.
Will it change how my PDF looks?
No. Only the order of objects inside the file changes.
Can I linearize a password-protected PDF?
Yes, enter the password when asked. The output is saved without encryption.
