Change PDF Permissions
Allow or block printing, copying and editing in a PDF, protected by an owner password.
About this tool
Change PDF Permissions re-encrypts a document with the restrictions you choose: printing (low or high quality), copying text and images, editing, comments, form filling, accessibility and page assembly. The new settings are protected by an owner password and encrypted with AES-256.
You can keep the document open for everyone — leave the open password empty and anyone can read it, but the restrictions still apply — or set an open password at the same time. If the file is already protected, you are asked for its current password first.
Permissions are respected by standard PDF readers such as Acrobat, Edge and Chrome. They discourage casual copying and printing, but for real confidentiality always use an open password.

Frequently asked questions
Can permissions be bypassed?
Some non-standard tools ignore them. Permissions deter casual misuse; use an open password for real protection.
Do readers need a password to open the file?
Only if you set an open password. Otherwise the file opens normally with the restrictions applied.
What if my file is already protected?
Enter its current password; the tool decrypts it and applies your new settings.
