Font to Outline
BetaMake text print identically on any device by flattening text pages at high resolution — no fonts needed.
About this tool
Print shops often ask for “outlined fonts” so a missing or substituted font can't change the layout. True outlining converts every glyph into vector paths, which requires a MuPDF- or Ghostscript-class engine. Those engines are AGPL-licensed, so Mofumi does not ship them.
Instead, this beta tool uses a dependable fallback: every page that contains text is rendered at high resolution (300 dpi by default, up to 600) and replaced by that image. Pages without text stay as vectors. The printed result no longer depends on fonts at all and looks exactly as on screen.
The trade-off is clearly stated in the report: flattened text can't be selected, searched or edited, and the file usually gets larger. Keep the original for editing and send the flattened copy to print.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as converting fonts to curves?
Not exactly. The pages are rendered to high-resolution images instead of vector curves. At 300–600 dpi the print looks the same, but text is no longer selectable.
Why not real vector outlines?
The engines that do it are AGPL-licensed. We keep Mofumi free of AGPL code, so we use this fallback until a permissively licensed engine exists.
Which pages are changed?
Only pages that contain text. Pages with only pictures or drawings are copied unchanged.
