Flatten PDF
Turn form fields, comments and stamps into ordinary page content so they can’t be changed.
About this tool
Flatten PDF merges interactive elements into the page itself. Filled-in form fields become plain text and graphics, and annotations such as comments, highlights, stamps and drawn ink are drawn into the page exactly as they appear. The result looks the same but can no longer be edited by clicking on it.
Flattening is the standard last step before printing or archiving: it makes sure every reader and printer shows the same thing, and that nobody can quietly change a value in a submitted form. Links are kept, and comments without a visible appearance are left as they are.
Choose whether to flatten forms, annotations or both. Flatten PDF is used in the Print Ready, Full Optimization and Archive Preparation workflows.

Frequently asked questions
Will my form values disappear?
No. Their appearance is drawn onto the page; only the editable field is removed.
Are links kept?
Yes. Link annotations are not flattened, so they still work.
Can I flatten only the form fields?
Yes. Turn off Annotations to keep comments editable.
