Certificate Encryption
Coming soonEncrypt a PDF for specific people using their public certificates — no shared password needed.
Coming soon
This tool is on our roadmap. It needs a heavy engine that we're still bringing to the browser.
About this tool
Certificate Encryption will protect a PDF with public-key security (Adobe.PubSec): instead of a password, the file can only be opened by people who hold the private key for one of the certificates you choose. It is ideal inside organisations that already issue certificates to staff.
Each recipient’s certificate wraps the document key separately, so you can add or remove readers without sharing any secret. The document itself is encrypted with AES-256.
This tool is coming soon. Until then, use Protect PDF with a strong password and send the password through a different channel.
